Kampar River Rafting

Eversince our first taste of white water rafting in Bali last year, the CB gang (who were in Bali) got pretty much fired up to give another try and its kinda astonishing for Christy Har a.k.a Ah Leng to even wanna try again (she fell triple summersault into a calm stream barely 5min after the start ...quite a site with her 2 legs up in the air) Of course, this time around shez back with vengeance (more of it later)

and naturally, for any CB gang outing, we would have figured out something to do before and after the rafting itself ... value adding ma.

We left KL on Friday, soon after everyone managed their Friday office wayang session to Ipoh ... overnight at Ah Sou's house and to savour the famous Ipoh Bean-Sprout Steam Chicken a.k.a Ngar Choy Kai.

The day didnt start quite well though, with a few misunderstanding between us and the Tracks people, kinda worried they'd aeroplane us as we have paid some deposits into their account.

Anyhow the misunderstanding was just plain stupid and a typical example of how simple communication could go awry if both sides are not familiar with the area. We started lately naturally, as by the time we headed upstream, it was already 11am and we'd to hurry up!! (how la? row faster is it?) As it turns out, the river was just a few stone away from Cindy house ... hmm... not very bright isnt it for a local fellow ... got river behind house orso dunno.

Hehe... anyway we got to the starting point and the rest was just superb. Apparently it had rained heavily at night and hence the river is now bloated and current is zealously rapid. So now we are looking at a potentially Grade 3++ river and a shorter rafting duration, it could also mean that our rafting would be much more challenging but definitely much more exciting!!!

A few ssafety lectures and we are off to Troy ... with two 4 seater rafts, two navigators and Marjorie as the scout and guide.

Shame though that we could not capture any part of the rafting either on still or video ... but the sheer excitement of going through the obstacles, challenging our mind & body and enjoying the cool jungle breeze was what a perfect weekend should always be and one that could easily remain in our memory for good.
